Should the Victoria Secret hire Asley Graham?

Image
Just to be clear: I am overweight. Now I would consider myself as a curvy woman. A few years back I used to wear size 18-20. Now I gladly waring size 12-14. So I believe if someone is entitled to discouss this topic, that is me. Have a healthy body! Nowadays we meet lots of campaigns regarding woman bodies. Not only the skinny but the enourmus rolls too. All of those praises that we should accept ourselves. No wonder that we are more occupied regarding this matter as it was before. I do remember in high school, what type of conversation we used to have. How scared did we glimpsed to the popular girl... how smooth her skin was, and hairless legs, everything was perfect. I was scared and disgusted by myself. You might think, but then why I did not eat less, or started a diet, or go to the gym? I did. But at home all those eating started again. I ate a lots of sugar. My skin had to expand so fast that it ripped. Ripped like when I had to rush to the emergency because I had a seizure ...

Public Breast Feeding - Why Should you?

Image
Obviously, all babies - just like all humans - need to eat. However I believe flopping out a breast in public and shoving it in the little human's mouth is not entirely the best solution. I am not saying you shouldn't breastfeed in public. I am not saying you should rather bottle feed in public. I am saying you shouldn't breastfeed PUBLICLY. This lovely woman here is following nature's course, however she could do it by finding a quite bench and giving the child the proper attention and care and love, but instead she connects it like a charger to her phone and walks around unbothered. Those two women in the back, while obviously should mind their own business somewhere I agree with them. Because breastfeeding should be intimate, and should be about having a moment with your child. Food is not just food for a baby. It is a time of true connection with the mother. But lately we have ignored this. Breastfeeding became a task, something that needs to be done, ...

Depression and Suicide - The Mute Boogieman Under the Bed

Image
I was going to write about how this is a thing that parents don't look for but is there in every teenager. I was going to write about that cyber bullying is a thing that our parents never had to face therefore they aren't aware of it nor prepare their children to face it. I was going to write about that many parents aren't aware of the fact that many kids need help because of their mental state. Not entirely because they don't want to, but rather because the kids are also scared to tell.  I was going to write about the snowball effect that many kids need to deal with when their reputation takes a blow. I was going to write, but then I came across a video. This video will tell it all. Please only continue reading after you have watched the video. There are many many things that parents now days cannot relate to: social media all around, smartphones, and also the expectations that are set front of us aren't the same as they had to face. Even...

Independence to Catalonia

Image
I know many of you have heard about the feud between the people of Catalonia and the Spanish government. But not many of us know what is really going on: this independence feud has been around for centuries really. Ever since modern day Spain was formed it was somewhat resisted by the Catalans to accept. Aragon and Catalonia were two different countries which eventually were forced to merge under the same king back in the 15th century. In the early 1930s nationalism among Catalans reemerged as it was given a greater sense of autonomy just to be shut down by an ultra conservative ruler, Gen Francisco Franco in 1939. They were repressed, their language restricted. The definition of a country   : is basically a nation with their own government occupying a particular territory... and the definition of nation is a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular state or territory. The Catalan people fit these definitions, but...

Zero Waste - the financial and the environmental struggle

Image
In december 2016 I clicked on a TED Talk. It was held by Bea Johnson on TEDxMünster. She made me think. I was raised to be environmental- aware, thanks to my father. That was the very first time when I met this movement. The 5Rs: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot... but how? As most of you, I also live in a big city. My everydays contains a lots of trash. At first I thought that is not bad, as I have tried to chose the eco products before the video as well. Met the ads of the menstrual cup, etc... After I heard Johnson talk I sat down, and made a list. What do I do? How bad am I harming? Is this really doable? Can I go no waste? Let me break this, I am not living a zero waste lifestyle. But I do live (or trying to) like a minimalist. This does not mean, that my flat looks like one of the japaneese ones. I do have objects. I have clothes. I have furniture. But I also got rid of a bunch of stuff. And each time, when I go out, I consider. If I go for a drink I rather choos...

Do you want Fish or Plastic

Image
This has been a serious concern lately, and it is no wonder, since it is known that by 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish. That is no news. We have known this since ages. By now, we have garbage patches in the ocean known as the Western and Eastern Pacific Garbage patch, collectively known as the Great Pacific Garbage aka GGP. We have took the time to give them a name, but we haven't spent even that much effort to get rid of them. These patches are floating between California and Japan in a circle riding on the backs of the currents, poisoning the Ocean's natural habitats.    We strife that we are the most advanced species that have ever walked this Earth. We are the first to walk the moon, the first to explore molecular biology, expand the world of medicine to the point where very few things can come out fatally. For us.  But not for our surroundings. 44% of all seabird species, 22% of cetaceans, all of the turtle species and a great...

Age of the AI

Image
Not long ago, Sophia the humanoid robot became the first AI citizen of Saudi Arabia. I haven't even heard about her until videos of interviews started to pop up on my news feed. As a great sci-fi enthusiast I was excited but at the same time a bit sceptical towards her: I mean, have you never seen the terminator? Or A.I.? Or I Robot? Or Transcendence? I believe we all saw the predicted dangers of creating an AI.... She is about a year old, and in her words : she is a baby with an encyclopedia. Her creator also lets her know in the awakening video that even though she has great knowledge she yet lacks experience and understanding that she must learn on her own. She also met the press  and to be honest her reactions sent a chill down my spine. And she also makes me wonder a few things about the robotics... The interviewer first of all is very sceptical towards her because of Hollywood movies (which she points out is not real). But can a robot be really self aware? I mea...

Why Do We Hate Ourselves?

As a 21st century woman, I have realised that me and many of my fellow women on this planet hate the person that stares back at the mirror. And I have found a couple reasons when I was contemplating about what could have caused this. 1. Happy are the ignorant First off, this might come off interesting but I have slowly began to understand that the more uneducated a woman is the more she believes she is da shit . The simpler the better. Of course, that might be painful for her surroundings to listen to all that life changing stupidity leaving her mouth, but she is happy. Being dumb only hurts others. But the more educated the woman the more we question ourselves. I have seen mothers who have been more educated than most, being part of a happy marriage and not having a thing to worry about financially are still stand front of that mirror gripping at the tiny piece of fat on their hips, pulling on their face to make the laugh lines disappear just for a moment... But I have also se...

Psychotic Parents - The Product of Ostrich Poitics

Image
Disclaimer: This post is not for the faint hearted, contains stories that could upset people. People all around the World are facing charges for killing their own offspring -  yes, you did read that right. But many cases only make the news for about a day. People don't talk about these cases, they let them slip away simply because it is something we don't want to talk about. They were sociopaths or psychopaths, they aren't like us, it won't happen to us. But why should we turn a blind eye when it comes to the worst of humans? Why should we even let all this happen after all many of today's society fights fiercely against abortions calling it murder and a violation of human rights. But you know what I haven't seen? People fighting for: The sons of Gary Clarence, who were murdered by their own mother, Tania , after she "struggled to care for" her babies. You know that nobody blamed the mother for doing so, because she was mentally ill. The husba...
