Independence to Catalonia

I know many of you have heard about the feud between the people of Catalonia and the Spanish government. But not many of us know what is really going on: this independence feud has been around for centuries really. Ever since modern day Spain was formed it was somewhat resisted by the Catalans to accept. Aragon and Catalonia were two different countries which eventually were forced to merge under the same king back in the 15th century.

In the early 1930s nationalism among Catalans reemerged as it was given a greater sense of autonomy just to be shut down by an ultra conservative ruler, Gen Francisco Franco in 1939. They were repressed, their language restricted.

The definition of a country : is basically a nation with their own government occupying a particular territory... and the definition of nation is a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular state or territory. The Catalan people fit these definitions, but they aren't given the freedom they desire.
They tried recently to gain independence from Spain by democratic means: by vote.

Spain called that a blow to democracy (how?) and that it is illegal to do such things for independence. They simply do not have the right to vote in the matter.
When the vote was held this year in 2017 October, the Spanish govt. did everything in their power to stop the people from voting.
They seized ballot papers, cell phones, threatened to fine people up to 300,000€, shut down websites, demanded Google to remove voting locations from the android app store, police were sent to stop the public from entering poll stations... I CALL THAT A BLOW TO DEMOCRACY.

NEVER THE LESS people voted. They voted 90% in favour of independence from Spain. By the govt. only 43% was admitted. Spain is the part of the European Union. The EU is supposed to stand for democracy ind intervene whenever it is violated. So why is it that I only heard from this feud for about a day, and then magically every video, every post magically disappeared posted by the Catalan people asking for justice in the matter.
The president of the Generailtat (the govt. of Catalonia) declared independence but left it suspended. He said that he will delay the effect of the declaration of independence to engage in a negotiation with the Spanish parliament about this matter. Ever since we haven't heard form them.

But to be sure, the Spanish have a great interest in Catalonia since that is the richest part of the country, where Barcelona is found.

Still the people hesitate. Most of the world stands against Catalonia being independent.

See those red countries? They all stand against the independence of Catalonia. I yet still stand baffled to see that so many won't at least say they are impartial to the matter. (Countries coloured yellow are impartial, green are supportive.)
We are all walking around beating our chests about how we have so many problems and putting personal discomfort ahead of injustice. I am truly and utterly disappointed that we turn a blind eye to nation crying for help. And this is not even the worst matter in international affairs. How many of you can say they voiced an opinion? Showed support? Why do we not care?

If you wish to break this mute resistance towards this issue, you can sign a petition.

And here a Texan man from the US voices his opinion why it is false and a lie. Putting radicals as majority. Calling all of Catalans radicals basically. Maybe I am racist for saying this but let an American have the absolute bullshit answer for the matter. They obviously read the backstory, they have some facts about the uproar among Catalans, but what he is doing is discredits himself through the whole video: Women not represent all feminists, as all feminists don't represent women... but here look at these radicals they represent Catalonia. Videos like these seriously concern me, because most people fully believe men like him because he is one of the few sources that most people could reach just because it is in English.

I stand with Catalonia. Do you?
